Math Lesson Planning - The Math Block

Math instruction should move beyond a one-size-fits-all approach. Educators should collaborate to design intentional, evidence-based Tier I lessons aligned to Indiana Mathematics Standards and students’ learning progressions. Lesson structures may vary daily based on goals and available staff, but planning should always aim to meet students where they are and support growth. The provided resources can assist in organizing and timing math lessons and timing effectively.

Responsible Use Statement

The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) has compiled the following list of external resources as a support for educators in Indiana. IDOE does not own, control, or maintain these materials. Additionally, IDOE has not reviewed or vetted the listed materials for compliance with Indiana’s High-Quality Curricular Materials requirements and thus does not endorse them as such. IDOE has vetted the resources solely for general alignment to Indiana’s Academic Standards, instructional models and philosophies, and appropriate subject -matter. However, it is the responsibility of educators, coaches, and administrators to ensure all resources used with students are specifically aligned to grade-level standards and local level guidelines. Inclusion of a resource on this list does not constitute endorsement, approval, or recommendation by the IDOE. Educators and local education agencies are responsible for independently evaluating the suitability, quality, and alignment of any resources with applicable academic standards.
